At the end of March, we transferred more than 800 homes across East Anglia and parts of Essex to Sanctuary Affordable Housing.
The move is part of a wider strategy to focus on our core areas of operation – London and the areas immediately surrounding it – which has already seen properties sold in Northamptonshire, Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Buckinghamshire, Berkshire and Surrey.
We believe that services to residents can be improved by having a more locally-based landlord in these areas.
A total of 813 homes were included in the latest transfer, which were a mix of social and supported housing.
We carried out a rigorous selection process and are confident Sanctuary will provide the high level of service we demand of anyone taking on NHG homes. We have worked very closely with Sanctuary since their selection and throughout a thorough consultation process to make the transition as smooth as possible for residents and staff alike.
Carl Byrne, group director of housing for Notting Hill Genesis, said: “We wish all our former tenants a successful future with their new landlord and are grateful to all of those who took part in the consultation process.
“We would also like to say a huge thank you to all the staff in our East Anglia region, who have impressed us all so much with their professionalism and dedication throughout this process, particularly over these recent weeks which have been so challenging for everyone.
“Over the years they have transformed so many lives with the work they have done, and we know they will continue to do so now they have moved to Sanctuary. We will continue to offer any support needed to help the transition go smoothly.”
