We’re announcing two updates that strengthen resident representation at NHG and how resident voices are reflected in our decisions.
Connie Henry MBE has joined the NHG Group Board as our new Resident Non-Executive Director. Following a competitive recruitment process, Connie brings more than 20 years of leadership experience, along with the valuable perspective of being an NHG resident.
As part of the Board, Connie will help guide the future direction of NHG, making sure decisions reflect what matters most to residents. She will also be a member of our Customer Committee and Homes Committee, helping to ensure resident insight is built into key areas of our work.
Connie has held senior roles as a CEO, Chair and Non-Executive Director, and is an international medal-winning athlete. She has a strong track record in social impact, developing initiatives that deliver real, lasting change in communities.
New Resident Forum Chair
Afiya Ballard has been appointed Resident Forum Chair, following a robust interview process in April this year. Afiya brings fresh energy and ideas to the role, with a clear focus on making the Resident Forum the best it can be.
“I’m really excited to take on this role and work closely with residents, NHG teams and colleagues to make sure that resident voices are heard and make a positive difference in our communities.”
Afiya Ballard, Resident Forum Chair
We’d like to thank Emma-Louise Stewart for her passion and commitment in leading the Forum from its very beginning in 2025. Emma-Louise, who is also an NHG resident, will continue her role as a member of the NHG Board.
A stronger approach to resident engagement
Together, the Resident Forum and the Resident Non-Executive Director role help strengthen resident influence at every level of NHG, alongside existing resident representation on our Board.
From shaping day-to-day services to contributing to strategic decisions, these roles ensure residents’ voices are heard where it matters most. This joined-up approach helps us keep residents at the heart of everything we do, as we work to make sure every resident has a decent, safe and secure home.
