Spreading the festive cheer for those in need

Our various teams have been helping spread Christmas cheer, supporting residents to have an enjoyable festive season.

For many, Christmas can be the loneliest and most challenging time of the year. We have teamed up with our partners and contractors to arrange and deliver food hampers and gifts for some of our more vulnerable residents.

Care and support Christmas hampers

Our care and support team organised a staggering 400 Christmas hampers to go out to tenants in need of a helping hand. The hampers included foods, scarves, gloves, books, playing cards, dominoes and sanitary products which were all organised according to sex, age, and dietary requirements.

The hampers were arranged in partnership with the Junior League of London, an organisation led by women to promote voluntary service and improve communities.

Woodberry Down Christmas hampers

We delivered food hampers to nearly 70 residents in Woodberry Down. The hampers contained a selection of festive treats, toiletries, and tinned foods.

The Woodberry Down housing team have since received lots of lovely messages, including the following: “Just want to say a big thank you to everyone involved in making the wonderful hampers. My aunt was so surprised; she had a big smile looking at the goodies. I am sure others who received them were as pleased and feel special. Once again, a big thank you to all who helped make it happen.”

Crisis grocery donations

Our business services team organised a staff food and toiletry appeal to provide support to homelessness charity Crisis. More than two boxes of everyday essentials like tinned and dry groceries donated by colleagues will give a helping hand to people struggling this Christmas.

Christmas gift appeal

Our volunteering team ran an annual gift appeal in the lead up to Christmas to benefit residents facing hardship in the winter months. This year, gifts were purchased by Notting Hill Genesis colleagues from wish-lists made by some of the most vulnerable people we house who live in our agency managed properties. Their gifts will be sent out directly by our services to arrive in time for the holidays, supporting groups such as young people aged 16-25, women and children fleeing domestic violence, and homeless hostels.

Abseiling Santas

In partnership with Wates and Rope Access, this is our third year of abseiling Santas at our office in Hammersmith.

Local children cheered the Santas as they made their way down the side of the building at Sussex Place or rang the bell as they entered the school near our Bruce Kenrick House office in Islington.

We’re proud to support this initiative, especially in a time where so many people are struggling. The kids really enjoy it – as do those dressed up!  A great opportunity to be better together for the local community.
