Summer is a great time to bring people together, and over the past few months, residents across NHG’s communities have been doing just that. From fun days and summer parties to football-themed events and community clean-ups, people have been connecting with neighbours, making new friends and celebrating the places they call home.
Here are some of the highlights from recent community events across our estates.
Zenith Close Community Fun Day
We kicked off the summer with a fantastic Community Fun Day at Zenith Close during the May half-term.
Families came together to enjoy an afternoon filled with entertainment, delicious food and fun activities for children of all ages. The event created a lively and welcoming atmosphere, giving residents the chance to spend time together, get to know their neighbours and make lasting memories.
It was a wonderful celebration of community spirit and a great way to bring residents together.
Bringing residents together at Drayton Green
Drayton Green has hosted several successful community events this year, creating opportunities for residents to connect while taking pride in their neighbourhood.
A Skip Day was particularly well received, helping residents responsibly dispose of unwanted bulky items and contribute to a cleaner, more attractive estate. As well as having practical benefits, the event encouraged conversations between neighbours and helped strengthen community relationships.
The estate also hosted a World Cup-themed Community Evening, led by Estate Operations Manager, Shannon Satenay-Layne. Residents took part in a friendly penalty shootout challenge before gathering to watch the semi-final match live on a big screen. While the result may not have gone England's way, the evening was a real success, bringing people together to share an enjoyable experience and celebrate their community.
Supporting communities through challenging times
Community events also took place at City Park West and Oak Square in July, providing opportunities for residents to connect and enjoy a range of activities together.
At Oak Square, where residents have been affected by ongoing improvement works, the event offered a welcome opportunity to spend time with neighbours and enjoy a sense of togetherness.
Meanwhile, City Park West hosted a vibrant summer party with an excellent turnout from residents. Guests enjoyed music from DJ John Barnett, who is a Customer Service Centre Team Leader at NHG, and there was a special performance from Remi's Angels, a newly formed choir made up of residents from nearby Freeman Court.
The event also had a petting zoo, face painting and football activities delivered by Chelsea Football Academy. With something for everyone to enjoy, it was fantastic to see residents come together, build new friendships and celebrate their community in a fun and welcoming environment.
