The Resident Forum was set up to make sure residents’ voices are heard. By sharing feedback and lived experience, the goal is to help NHG ensure every resident has a decent, safe and secure home.
To make sure the forum reaches as many residents as possible and gives everyone the chance to stay informed and get involved we held an open session on 1 October 2025. This brought together forum members and wider residents with personal experience of vulnerability, disability or sheltered housing, to explore how they’d like to communicate with the forum.
We’re now reviewing all the feedback from that session, with a commitment to respond to every item raised. Each point will be grouped into one of three categories:
- Quick wins – Actions we can take forward right away.
- Needs further analysis – Ideas that require more exploration.
- Not feasible right now – Suggestions that may not be practical at this stage.
Key themes from the session
- Residents shared personal experience of living with vulnerability or disability helping set the scene for the discussion.
- The Resident Forum section on the website was welcomed as a positive step forward — a new way to connect with all residents, including those who may face barriers to communication.
- We explored ideas to promote the website, including engaging local officials, creating videos and events, using NHG’s main website and MyAccount portal, and encouraging NHG staff to help spread the word.
- There were valuable suggestions on making content more accessible for example, for residents who are hard of hearing, blind, offline, or find websites difficult to use.
- We had a rich discussion about the Forum’s priorities and how the website can be used to gather wider input and influence NHG’s decisions.
- Participants also shared ideas on what kind of information should be available on the site, and what topics we should focus on to better engage residents.
We’ll publish a more detailed summary once the analysis is complete. A big thank you to all the residents who gave their time and insights. We look forward to sharing the outcomes and next steps soon.
