Shaping asset strategy delivery plan

Amy Nelsen, NHG’s Director of Strategic Asset Management, invited the Resident Forum to help shape the delivery plan for NHG’s asset strategy, a key initiative focused on improving the quality of homes.

Forum members contributed through two dedicated task groups, and those who took part really appreciated the chance to get involved. By offering a resident perspective, the forum helped NHG better understand how the strategy might be received and supported efforts to clarify its purpose.

We are  keen to involve even more residents in future projects like this, making sure their voices continue to influence the work NHG does.

Here’s what Amy had to say about the forum’s involvement:

"We have been working on a strategy to speed up our plans to improve NHG's homes for residents who are living in them today, especially people living in poor quality or overcrowded conditions. This is a strategy that will make a big impact but also requires NHG to make choices about how to spend our limited funds.

I met with the Resident Forum to share the proposed strategy, seek views, feedback and challenge. Not everyone agreed, and that’s good, as it meant the forum was listening to and bringing insight from different voices within our communities.  After this first session, some members joined small groups to look closely at the data and discuss the impact and how it aligned with resident forum priorities.

The forum helped us to consider how we explain the strategy clearly and measure success. They asked us to set out specific goals that demonstrate the benefit to our residents and communities, which we did. The forum have now approved the plans and I will be reporting back every three months over the next year, so they see progress and hold us accountable for achieving the impact we promised."
