If you are a tenant temporarily living away from your permanent address NHG will be responsible for council tax on your Stratford Halo home.
NHG will inform Newham Council Tax billing team.
Been moved to another NHG home or private tenancy?
- You will need to pay Council Tax at this address.
- Contact the borough to inform them of your move in date.
- They will send you a Council Tax bill from that date.
If you have been receiving council tax reduction (CTR) from Newham:
- Contact Newham benefits team on 020 8430 2000 to report to them that you have been moved temporarily by NHG and so the CTR claim on your Stratford Halo address will need to be ended.
- Make a fresh claim on the borough* website for CTR If you receive council tax support or council tax reduction (*the borough your temporary address is in)
- The benefits team will assess your fresh CTR claim and send you out a benefits letter confirming what your CTR allowance is.
If there is any council tax payable over & above what you had to pay at Stratford Halo, NHG will reimburse this money if you provide your council tax bills & any CTR entitlement letters for your both addresses homes.
Staying with friends or family, or are in a serviced apartment?
You will not need to pay council tax.
NHG will have advised Council Tax billing at Newham of your move out date.
You can also choose to inform Council Tax billing team that you have moved out of your permanent tenancy address.
If you were receiving council tax reduction (CTR) from Newham on your Stratford Halo address:
- Contact Newham benefits team on 020 8430 2000 to report to them that you have been moved temporarily from your Stratford Halo address.
- State you are living temporarily at an address with no council tax liability.
- So the CTR claim on your Stratford Halo address will need to be ended as you have on Council Tax liability.
