How to replace a shower head

What you'll need:

  • New shower head and hose
  • Adjustable wrench or pliers
  • Teflon tape (plumber's tape)
  • Cloth or towel

Step-by-step instructions:

  1. Check compatibility Ensure new shower head and hose match your existing setup size and type.
  2. Turn off water Make sure the tap/shower is not running before starting.
  3. Remove old components Wrap cloth around shower arm for protection, then use wrench to unscrew old shower head and detach old hose from both ends.
  4. Clean threads Use cloth to clean threads on shower arm, removing old Teflon tape or debris.
  5. Apply Teflon tape Wrap Teflon tape clockwise around shower arm threads to ensure watertight seal.
  6. Install new hose Screw one end of new hose onto shower arm and other end onto new shower head. Ensure connections are tight.
  7. Attach new shower head Hand-tighten shower head, then use wrench for additional quarter turn. Don't overtighten.
  8. Test installation Turn water back on and check for leaks. Adjust connections if necessary.
