What you'll need:
- Radiator key or flat-head screwdriver
- Small container or bowl
- Cloth or towel
Step-by-step instructions:
- Prepare your system Turn off your heating system and allow radiators to cool down completely before starting.
- Find the bleed valve Locate the bleed valve - it's usually at the top corner of the radiator and requires a radiator key or screwdriver.
- Position your container Place a small bowl or container directly under the bleed valve to catch any water.
- Open the valve Slowly turn the bleed valve counterclockwise using your radiator key. You'll hear air hissing as it escapes.
- Release the air Wait for the hissing to stop and water to begin flowing steadily from the valve.
- Close the valve Once water flows consistently, turn the valve clockwise to close it securely and prevent leaks.
- Clean up and test Wipe up any spilled water with a cloth. Turn your heating system back on and check that the radiator heats evenly.
