Home contents insurance for residents

Why do I need home contents insurance?

If you’re a leaseholder or tenant, we do not insure your home contents against loss or damage. No matter how careful you are, there’s always a risk that your belongings could be damaged from escapes of water and burst pipes, floods, fires or even stolen.

It’s therefore, a good idea to consider what a contents insurance policy would cover you for in order you can make an informed decision about whether it’s something you should obtain and whether it meets your needs and requirements. Many policies also cover your freezer contents and alternative accommodation in certain cases.

My Home Contents Insurance scheme

Whilst you’re free to consider other insurance providers and on-line comparison websites if you think that’s better for you, Notting Hill Genesis has teamed up with Thistle Tenant Risks, and Great Lakes Insurance UK Limited who provide the My Home Contents Insurance Scheme, a Contents Insurance policy designed for residents living in social housing.

The My Home Contents Insurance Scheme can offer you insurance for the contents of your home such as furniture, carpets, curtains, clothes, shoes, bedding, electrical items, jewellery, pictures, and ornaments.
