Colleagues came along to help Cultivate Colindale who are turning a previously vacant lot into a community garden.
Throughout our work on the regeneration of Grahame Park we have looked at ways we can make the best use of various spaces while the area is changing. Plot B will not be developed for at least the next five years, so we explored how we could use the space in the meantime. It sits opposite the newly developed Plot A, which will welcome its first residents soon.
We partnered with Wayward and Energy Garden to create Cultivate Colindale. They’ve been developing the area for the past year and we were excited to officially launch it to the community at the Urban Gamez at the end of the summer. Currently it’s only open a couple days a week but they’ve just hired a head gardener which will mean it can open full-time. They already have a couple of resident volunteers and they’re looking at what regular activities they can do with the community once they have everything in place.

To celebrate the space, and help out, we invited colleagues to come along to do some gardening and manual labour. It was a great day and we’re really excited to see how the space evolves and get residents involved so they can come together and create a space they can feel proud of. Cultivate Colindale are a great organisation and Tom, the director, is already super involved with the community.
