We nominated our contractors Axis Europe for best sustainability initiative who took home the prize.

The Social Value Awards took place on Thursday 27 November at the National Gallery to celebrate social value efforts from our supply chain across England.
This was our first time nominating one of our partners – we wanted to highlight Axis Europe’s incredible work at Garrick Close. The project has been in three phases taking place for more than a year with the last phase coming next spring.
The first phase was around clearing the area as it was full of protected trees which had become overgrown and unmanageable, meaning people could no longer walk around the green spaces. In the first phase 2000 bulbs and bird boxes were installed. The second phase included planting six fruit trees and the third will involve a creative workshop for kids where a local artist helps them create educational tree signage. The project has had some amazing feedback from residents with one saying she remembers enjoying the green spaces from when she was growing up on the estate and she’s so happy her children can now do the same.

Another success of the night was our commercial and contracts manager, Shaun Williams receiving the rising star award for honorary social value advocate. We nominated Shaun for all the work he’s done to make sure procurement contracts get the most out of social value and we’re so pleased he’s been recognised.

Director of NHG places, James Glass, also did a great job presenting the award for Best Social Value Collaboration.
It was a great event all round and fantastic to hear from all the speakers about what social means to them and the long term impact it can make on residents’ lives. We’re already looking forward to next year!
