Double success at G15 Ethnicity in Housing awards

We’re proud to have won two awards at a prestigious ceremony that celebrates diversity and excellence within the housing sector.

On Monday 16 June, the G15 group of London’s largest housing associations held the G15 Ethnicity in Housing Awards at County Hall in London.

Hawa Abdi winning her award.

The awards recognise the achievements of Black, Asian and minority ethnic people in the housing sector. Hawa Abdi, one of our involved residents who is active in her community, scooped the Resident Award despite strong competition from seven other contenders. Hawa is a dedicated community leader who runs the Center of Excellence, a Somali-led community organisation on the Grahame Park Estate in Barnet. Her work is focused on empowering and supporting east African communities, hosting a space for open discussion about family dynamics, physical and mental health, and overall wellbeing.

Vipul Thacker winning his award.

Meanwhile Vipul Thacker, our chief organisational effectiveness officer, was presented with a special recognition award. This celebrates leadership and commitment to achieving positive change in promoting diversity and inclusion within the housing sector. It’s the second time this award has been picked up by Notting Hill Genesis, having received it as a collective in 2022.

The event, hosted by Dr Leroy Logan MBE as keynote speaker and Master of Ceremonies, was a resounding success, filled with celebration and recognition of the hard work and dedication of all attendees.

Notting Hill Genesis were also shortlisted in three other categories – an amazing achievement. All our nominees should be feeling very proud.

The shortlisted colleagues were:

  • Ethnicity Ally Award: Lisa Gilbert, head of void improvement
  • Inspirational Leader Award: Sandip Shergil, director of procurement
  • One to Watch-Future Leaders Award: Coretta Scott, delivery manager
