We’ve completed the transfer of more than 500 homes to Watford Community Housing, marking another important step in our programme to move our out of London homes to landlords with a strong local presence.
This transfer follows a period of close collaboration between our teams and Watford Community Housing to ensure a smooth handover for residents. We are confident that residents will be pleased to be part of Watford Community Housing who now own and manage more than 7,500 homes across South-West Hertfordshire and North-West London. They are G1, V1, C1-rated.
With deep roots in the area, strong community relationships and a proven track record of delivering high quality services, they are well placed to provide the locally focused support our residents need.
The sale forms part of our wider strategic programme, announced in 2023, to transfer homes outside London to better positioned organisations over a phased period. By doing so, we can focus our long-term efforts on delivering for the people and neighbourhoods we serve in the capital, while ensuring residents in transfer areas continue to receive excellent service now and in the future.
These 509 homes are mostly general needs homes for social or affordable rent, as well as shared ownership and leasehold properties, and a small community hub that Watford Community Housing will manage.
This is the latest milestone in our ongoing programme of strategic disposals, and we will continue to work responsibly with trusted partners who share our purpose and commitment to our residents and provide updates to you along the way.
Matthew Cornwall-Jones, Chief Homes Officer at Notting Hill Genesis, said: “We’re pleased to have worked closely with Watford Community Housing to complete the transfer of more than 500 homes in Hertfordshire.
