If you are experiencing domestic abuse, or are worried about someone who is, help is available. The organisations below provide free, confidential support, advice, and safe accommodation for people affected by domestic abuse. Whatever your situation, you do not have to face it alone. Refuge is a leading UK charity dedicated to supporting women, children, and men who are experiencing domestic abuse. They provide confidential, specialist services including:

  • 24/7 National Domestic Abuse Helpline
  • Community outreach and advocacy
  • Support with housing, legal rights, and benefits
  • Help for survivors of economic, emotional, physical, and sexual abuse

Refuge works to empower survivors, helping them rebuild their lives free from fear and violence. Their services are trauma-informed, survivor-led, and accessible to all.

What they do

London Black Women’s Project (LBWP) is a specialist organisation providing holistic support to Black and minoritised women and girls who are experiencing or at risk of domestic abuse, gender-based violence, and other forms of oppression.

Their services include:

  • Safe, culturally sensitive refuge accommodation
  • Specialist domestic abuse advocacy and outreach
  • Mental health and wellbeing support
  • Legal advice and immigration support
  • Empowerment programmes and community engagement

LBWP is committed to addressing the intersectional needs of women, recognising the impact of race, gender, and migration status on experiences of abuse and access to support.
