Project Overview

Building safety works are underway at Wenlock Street to improve fire safety and keep residents safe, while ensuring the building meets current standards. The project involves external wall and balcony improvements only, including upgraded fire stopping, replacement of insulation with non combustible materials, and balcony refurbishment. 

Works started on 2 March 2026 and are expected to complete by late February 2027. While the works are underway, scaffolding will be in place around the outside of the building so contractors can safely carry out the required safety improvements. This may affect views from some homes and reduce natural light while the scaffolding is up. You may hear noise during working hours. All balconies have already been removed from the outside of the building and will be refurbished off site before being reinstalled later in the project.

What works are being carried out?

Wall Type 1- Brickwork -Remove bricks and set aside, new 90-minute fire barriers to be installed on vertical and horizontal compartmentation lines and service penetrations. Bricks to then be re-installed.

Wall Type 2- Cladding - Remove rainscreen panels, remove insulation, replace with non-combustible insulation, and fire barriers. New panels to then be re-installed.

Balcony Refurbishment-  Remove balcony structures from existing façade and transport to off-site fabrication facility. Re model balcony structure by stripping all existing timber and replace with aluminium decking and Hardie Plank panel.
