We kicked off the festive period with some lovely community events at our regeneration schemes.
We are delighted to have welcomed over 150 residents at our Winterfest at Grahame Park last week. The day included Bollywood dancing, a toy giveaway and food provided by Amigos (a restaurant who we know from our work on the Aylesbury Estate).
There was a huge mix of ages and people across the community coming along to enjoy the entertainment and get in the Christmas spirit. DJ Dave was on the decks to play Christmas hits, and we had singing duo Rawlene and Olivia come along to perform a couple of songs.
Over at Woodberry Down we marked the festivities with a tree lighting and speeches by chair of residents’ association WoodCo, Friends of Woodberry Down and the Mayor of Hackney, Caroline Woodley. There was a market inside with local businesses offering homemade cakes, jewellery and more.
We also had the London Wildlife Trust doing a crafts session with kids to make items using the natural environment. Hackney youth trust also came along to talk to younger residents about the opportunities in the area. Along with that there was mulled wine, mince pies, face painting and the zen bus made an appearance running meditation workshops from there retrofitted school bus.
All in all, a fantastic start to Christmas, celebrating alongside our communities and bringing residents together.
