Last week, the G15 group of London’s largest housing associations launched its new leadership development programme for BAME managers with a virtual event.
The Accelerate programme is a Chartered Management Institute (CMI) leadership development programme for BAME managers who want to speed up their career trajectory. It aims to equip talented BAME colleagues with the skills, confidence and connections to help speed up their progress.
We’re proud to report that two Notting Hill Genesis (NHG) colleagues have successfully applied for the programme. Nesline Lee, HR business partner and Seb Bachou, asset analytics manager, had to complete a robust application process consisting of skills testing, a short video explaining their interest in the programme and a face-to-face interview with a member of the G15 Accelerate delivery team, so it really is quite an achievement to make it through to the final group.
Nesline said:
I am nervous and excited about the programme, some of the modules look challenging but I am looking forward to being at the forefront of the G15’s change.
Seb said:
I am over the moon to have been selected to take part in the Accelerate programme and I am really looking forward to the next 15 months, working alongside our G15 colleagues. There’s some really interesting subjects on the programme and hopefully I will learn a great deal to develop my skills, and become an ambassador for NHG and future programmes, as well as supporting me in the next chapter of my career.
Nesline and Seb will now embark on a 15–to-18 month programme that will include regular masterclass sessions from chief executives and leaders across the G15 and a chance to raise their profile through networking and sponsorship from a director outside of our organisation. They will participate in modules on personal development and advanced leadership training, and have exclusive access to existing thought leaders, executive sponsors and bespoke events. They’ll study with peers from other G15 housing organisations and immediately apply what they learn in their job.
Nesline and Seb will graduate from the programme with a CMI diploma in strategic leadership and management, an increased profile in our sector along with more confidence to achieve their career ambitions.
Encouraging and supporting our people to take part in initiatives like the Accelerate programme is part of our commitment to career development for BAME colleagues.
We wish Nesline and Seb all the best for the programme ahead.
