Four projects nominated for New London Architecture awards

Four Notting Hill Genesis projects have been nominated for New London Awards (NLA), which each also having the chance to land a People’s Choice prize.

The NLAs, an initiative by New London Architecture, celebrate the very best new and proposed architecture, planning and development in the capital. More than 150 schemes have been shortlisted across 15 diverse categories.

In the housing category, Royal Albert Wharf in Newham has been shortlisted. The dockside regeneration, which will eventually provide 1,800 new homes, was recently named residential project of the year (London) by the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors.

New Mildmay in Shoreditch has been chosen for two categories – mixed use and sustainability. As well as private sale, private rent, shared ownership and social rent homes, the scheme also provides a new specialist HIV and AIDS hospital, a church and a children’s play space.

A development that revamped Cambridge Hall in Kilburn, known as the Tin Tabernacle, saving it from the Historic England ‘at-risk’ register, has been nominated for the conservation and retrofit category. It also saw new homes built on an adjacent site.

Finally, Spray Street Quarter in Woolwich has been nominated in the mixed use category. This joint venture with St Modwen’s will create more than 740 new homes, a new public square fronted by a cinema, shops and restaurants, and a children’s nursery.

Check out the full list of categories  and vote for your favourite scheme. You can either look for the relevant listing and click the “people’s choice vote click to tweet” option and make your vote over Twitter, or fill in this online form. The closing date is Friday (22 June).

The winners will be announced on Wednesday 4 July at the NLA annual lunch at Guildhall in the City of London.

Away from the NLAs, our Woodberry Down regeneration project in Manor House has won yet another award – for community-led placemaking at the Planning Awards.

This follows its recent success in winning best large development at the Evening Standard New Homes Awards, and the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors naming it as London project of the Year and best regeneration project.
