When you move into your home, you become part of a community. As part of this community there are a number of pro-active steps that you and your neighbours can take to keep service charge costs low, while ensuring that you are fully able to enjoy your home. See our tips below.
-
Raise issues with us sooner rather than laterRead moreIf you become aware of an issue, whether it's damage to the communal area that needs repairing, a cleaning issue, anti-social behaviour, or any issue that you feel is affecting your home, let your PMO or housing officer know as soon as possible. They'll need to know where the issue is, how bad the damage is and if it's getting worse, how often it's happening and how long it's been going on. They can then work out which resources they'll need to devote to fixing the issue quickly and fully. The more detail they have (including photos), the better the chance of a quick resolution.

Dispose of waste correctlyRead moreIf waste is routinely left in communal areas, cleaning and disposal costs can build up very quickly, which affects the service charge you pay. By making sure all waste is properly disposed of in the correct receptacle, you can avoid extra costs and also minimise pest control issues, which can be hugely expensive to resolve. Larger items, such as furniture or old appliances, will need to be disposed of at a local refuse facility. Check your Local Authority’s website for organisations that may be able to collect larger items from your property.

Report anti-social behaviourRead moreIf you're experiencing anti-social behaviour, you should contact your PMO or housing officer. However, if you believe any kind of criminal activity may be about to, or has already, taken place, or if you feel threatened in any way, you should call the police immediately (please provide your officer with any crime reference numbers or the names of investigating officers).
