Winning bespoke bench to be installed at Royal Albert Wharf

The London Festival of Architecture and the Royal Docks team ran their Pews and Perches competition again this year.

The competition sees students, graduates and emerging practitioners design a bench that actively engages users and visitors to the Royal Docks. The idea is for them to share their perspective on sustainability within the docks.

Five winning design teams have been selected to have their benches installed for at least a year as part of the London Festival of Architecture 2023. Each offers a unique perspective and interpretation of the theme ‘In Common’.

One of the winning bespoke public benches will be installed at Royal Albert Wharf. As you may know we already have another bench on the other side of the dock which was a winner from a previous year.
