Hackney Wick plans take a step forward

Our plans for almost 200 new homes around Hackney Wick Station, all of which will offer affordable housing, have taken a step closer this week.

We have now chosen a contractor for the first part of construction, John F Hunt, who will be installing new sections of hoarding, demolishing the existing buildings and preparing the ground.

We are inviting artists and the community to get involved in the hoarding project by collaborating with workspace partners Bow Arts on artwork surrounding the development sites.

We have published our first Hackney Yards E9 newsletter for the local community, which will keep them up-to-date with everything happening at the scheme, and how they can get involved to ensure the new homes immediately feel part of a thriving community.

As well as the 190 homes, split across London Affordable Rent and shared ownership, there will be 4,131sqm of commercial space, including retail, studio offices and affordable workspace. We will also be creating 4,000sqm of high quality public space, play areas, roof terraces and podiums.
