Flood update

Colleagues across Notting Hill Genesis continue to work with residents in the 273 homes badly affected by the flash floods that hit west and central London a fortnight ago.

Our housing teams have been out and about door-knocking and checking in with residents, while others make follow-up calls to check people have what they need. We expect to have completed clearing debris and environmental cleaning by the middle of this week and to install dehumidifiers where that has not yet been possible.

Our surveyors continue to visit homes and assess damage, but we won’t have a full picture until properties have fully dried out, which could take several weeks.

Where required, we have put residents up in hotels, and have found a small number longer-term accommodation. We’re also helping those most in need with food vouchers and emergency payments and signposting them to council support and charities, including free counselling services.

Given the possibility of further heavy rain, we have made arrangements to step up the number of colleagues available to take calls out of hours if necessary.
