Do you want to run the London Marathon?

The long-awaited next London Marathon is due to take place on Sunday 3 October – and we’re looking for runners who want to support our hardship fund.

We currently have eight spaces available, each of which would need to be able to raise a minimum of £1,450 to take part.

As a Notting Hill Genesis runner, you will have exclusive entry to our first-ever online Meet the Expert event, where a panel of motivational and inspirational will give you the tools you need to prepare for and enjoy your marathon journey.

There will also be a free pre-run dinner a month before the race and the cost of your marathon bib will be covered.

How the fund helps

Our hardship fund helps residents – including those living in temporary accommodation or extra care schemes – to alleviate hardship and short-term crises which can be anything from their fridge breaking down to being unable to afford the train fare to a family funeral.

The hardship fund also helps housing officers pay for community events, wellbeing sessions or tenancy sustainment projects that benefit our residents.
It has never been more vital than in the past year, when £140,000 was awarded to help fund household items, school uniforms and supermarket vouchers for those affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

A single parent with three children who was suffering financial hardship as she was on a zero-hours contract and then had to move home due to domestic violence. Support from the hardship fund allowed her to get furniture, other household items and supermarket vouchers. She said: “I appreciate everything you’ve done for me.”
