The annual London Marathon is due to take place on Sunday 2 October – and we’re looking for runners who want to run on our behalf and raise money. We currently have four spaces available, each of which would need to be able to raise a minimum of £1,450 to take part.
As a Notting Hill Genesis runner, you will have exclusive entry to our first-ever online ‘meet the expert’ event, where a panel of motivational and inspirational speakers will give you the tools you need to prepare for and enjoy your marathon journey. There will also be a free pre-run dinner a month before the race and the cost of your marathon bib will be covered.
Where will the money go?
Last year, our runners included Notting Hill Genesis staff, one contractor from Wates and an international runner from China who collectively raised almost £27,000. As always, the money raised will go towards our hardship fund helping residents, including those living in temporary accommodation or extra care schemes.
As always, the money raised will go towards our hardship fund to helps residents, including those living in temporary accommodation or extra care schemes.
The fund helps alleviate hardship and short-term crises, which can be anything from a fridge breaking down to being unable to afford the train fare to a family funeral. The hardship fund also helps housing officers pay for community events, wellbeing sessions or tenancy sustainment projects that benefit our residents.
For the past two years, the fund has played a vital role in supporting resident affected by the pandemic. We awarded £280,000 to help fund household items, school uniforms and supermarket vouchers for residents.
