Celebrate Christmas by the docks

Christmas is coming early for the Royal Albert Wharf community thanks to a special Winter Festival being held next weekend.

The event, from 2pm on Saturday 14 December, will let residents and visitors enjoy a craft market, tasty festive food, two family films on the big screen and a brass band.

It will be topped off with an amazing Supper Club run by Masterchef finalist Steve Kielty at Lockside Kitchen.

Local artists will have their work on show and available to buy at RAW Labs throughout the day, including a stall by Art Club children from the area.

At 3pm, families can watch festive classic The Snowman on the big screen at RAW Labs. They will also be screening How the Grinch Stole Christmas at 7pm. Both screenings are free, but tickets must be booked in advance from the Royal Docks website.

From 2.30-5pm a Christmas Card-making workshop will be run by residents artist Temple Print Studio and The Auction Collective.

Das Brass, a brass covers band playing a mix of pop and funk hits, will be performing at 6.15pm and 9pm, starting at RAW Labs and making their way around Royal Albert Wharf.

Finally, Steve Kielty’s supper club will offer a four-course menu, plus cocktails, at Lockside Kitchen from 6-11.30pm. You can enjoy ham hock terrine, confit salmon, fillet of beef and pear poached in mulled perry, with views across the docks, for just £49.99 per person. Book your tickets at Design My Night.

Royal Albert Wharf is just five minutes from Gallions Reach DLR station.

RAW Labs is a creative hub within Royal Albert Wharf run by Bow Arts, an art and education charity.
