Castle Lane celebrates reaching its highest point

Our beautiful and unique development offering affordable housing of varying tenures less than half a mile from Buckingham Palace has reached its latest milestone, with a topping out ceremony on Thursday 8 June.

Notting Hill Genesis, Landsec and HG construction came together to mark this latest phase in development. Once complete the scheme will create 88 new one, two and three bedroom affordable homes.

This includes 28 shared ownership apartments which will be launched online in July with the show home unveiling in September.

The ‘topping out’ saw the last of the cement being laid at the top of the block which is due to be completed later this year. The remaining blocks will be finished by spring 2024.

The homes will include a new green space, a children’s play area and cycle storage. The buildings will be carefully restored, preserving the Victorian façades to retain the heritage of the area.

The regeneration project will breathe new life to the community providing affordable housing in the heart of Victoria.

John Hughes, group director of development for Notting Hill Genesis, said:

“It will be fantastic to see Castle Lane become a thriving community once again. Notting Hill Genesis feel very privileged to be able to contribute to the re-establishment of this neighbourhood and to bring these much need affordable homes back into use for residents.

“We would like to thank our partners Landsec and HG Construction for the collaborative effort that has made this project such a success.”

Conor Rice, managing director at HG construction said:

“This is our first project with Landsec and we are proud to be working collaboratively with them to deliver high quality affordable accommodation in a fantastic location.

“The original Victorian facades have been fully retained, ensuring that the development will add value to the local area without compromising its unique heritage. I would like to recognise and celebrate the efforts of the project team to date and look forward to seeing the works progress further in the coming months.”

James Rowbotham, head of workplace development at Landsec, said:

“Victoria is a global destination with a thriving community of businesses retailers and restaurateurs. Today’s milestone brings us a step closer to adding high quality affordable housing for the area alongside our partners, Notting Hill Genesis and HG Construction.

“We’re pleased that we can bring these buildings back into use in a sustainable way and also make a significant contribution toward addressing housing need in Westminster.”
