Are you a universal credit claimant?

You may have already seen a message appear on your online journal stating that your universal credit (UC) allowance will be going down. This because the £20 weekly uplift was due to be stopped by 6 October 2021. It was originally introduced to help people during the Covid pandemic and the UC standard allowance will now go back to its pre-pandemic level. This £20 per week works out as a reduction of about £87 per month.

Many of you may be concerned about the impact of this reduction on your household budgets. If you would like some extra support, details of agencies that can help with debts, money management and employability skills can be found on our resident support database.
